This series begins with something simple, the symbols we use every day without thinking.

A thumbs up.
A peace sign.
Hands shaped into a heart.
Fingers crossed.

They move quickly through our lives, in texts, in captions, in passing moments, standing in for things that are often much harder to say. They are light, familiar, almost automatic. And yet, they carry the weight of what we mean when we do not quite have the words.

It’s Like Peace, Love, Hope explores that tension.

Each 6 × 6 canvas is built through layered oil washes, allowing color and texture to surface and recede. The palette draws from gemstone tones, emerald green, ruby red, amethyst purple, and sapphire blue, each holding its own emotional presence. The hand symbols are embroidered directly into the surface using vintage Japanese 24 kt gold embroidery thread, pulling the line from image into object, from gesture into something held.

Each piece stands on its own as a single symbol, a moment, a gesture.
Together, they begin to form a language.

Arranged in sequence, they can be read, shifted, and reinterpreted, much like the way we use these symbols in our daily lives. Meaning expands or contracts depending on how they are placed, what is included, and what is left unsaid.

The full set is available unframed or mounted within a 14 × 14 inch deep blue panel. Each canvas is attached using hidden Velcro tabs, allowing the arrangement to be adjusted and reordered over time. The canvases sit raised within a gilded gold frame, creating depth and separation without glass.

The set will be created with the original color and symbol pairings shown.

This series is released alongside the original song It’s Like Peace, Love, Hope, which moves through the same idea, that the smallest symbols often carry the largest weight, and that we choose how lightly or how deeply they land.

Each purchase includes a digital copy of the song, delivered by email in the buyer’s preferred file format.
